Week 5:"No to Child Abuse"

I would like to talk about our advocacy that was presented last September 20, 2011. Our advocacy is all about "No to Child abuse". First I will define the word child abuse, it is the physical,sexual,emotional mistreatment, or neglect of a child. It is an acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver that results in harm,potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child. Child abuse maybe can occur in a home, organizations,schools or communities that child interacts with.

Parents shall give time to their child in order to avoid child abuse. They must give love and care to their child. There are many factors that may contribute to the occurrence of child abuse and neglect. Parents may be more likely to maltreat their children if they abuse drugs or alcohol. Some parents may not be able to to cope with stress resulting from the changes and may experience difficulty in caring for their children. Child abuse has also cause and effect. The causes are have no faith in God, parents raising false, not educated, and have no enough knowledge and the effect is the future of child will damage.

Child abuse has many consequences maybe the child will encourage to lie,resent,fear,and retaliate, instead of loving,trusting, and listening. It will also alienate the child from you and the rest of the family and make a recluse. It will also lower child's self esteem, and affect child's psychological development and ability to behave normally outside the home and lastly, when the child grows up, the child could probably carry on the family tradition and may exclude you from his/her adult life.

Week 4:"NO PLAGIARISM"

First, I want to define the word "PLAGIARISM", for me it is copying or stealing someone's work. It means taking another person's work without asking and calling it your own. Plagiarism can be accidental or intentional.  Maybe many of the students do this. They just copy and paste the works of other. I think they just do it because they are lazy in doing their own work. For me, it is ok to copy someone's work but make sure that you will ask permission to the owner.

Being original all the time can be tough, but copying another person's work and passing it as our own is a punishable offense. It is an illegal and immoral doing. Doing plagiarism is not good because it is one of the biggest mistake that you will do.

We must no to PLAGIARIZE because it is very unfair to the true owner. Also you will not learn anything because you just copy and paste it without understanding.Many offenses you will encounter if you plagiarize.

Some of the examples of plagiarism:
-copying and pasting from the Internet and posting somewhere else without proper citation.
-putting your name on another person's essay or project
-copying exact wording from another person's text
-using another person's photo,diagram,sounds,or ideas without proper citation
-presenting research in your own words without providing your references

I know that all of us have their own ideas,thoughts and opinions so use it in doing your works. All of us have a knowledge to have originality. So we must have self-confidence in doing our own work because God created us unique and give us good characteristics and enough knowledge.

Week 3: What a long weekend!?

The long weekend was not worth for me because I have many things to do. We have a dance competition, the "SAYAWIKAADS" that's why we need to train even if it is a short vacation. But after the competition, it's Sunday, I got time to rest and to bond with my family.

Sunday, together with my family, we enjoyed the time to celebrate this day because this is the only opportunity to bond with my parents because after the long weekend, it's back to school again and everyday we have a training. Me and my parents went to SM to buy groceries and especially to bond. We eat lunch and have a window shopping.

Monday, Lyceum Spartans Dance Troupe have a competition again, the "MAXIMUM GROOVITY". Those people who are not involve to the team of MG are required to watch. The contest start at 6pm. We LSDT cheer for the team. After this event, I already want to go home. I felt bad that's why I slept in our travel hours.

My last day of my vacation was Tuesday. I just do the things I want. Watch television, listen to music, texting, surfing the net and edit some pictures.But after this long event, I feel lazy to go to school I don't want to wake up early.

In my own opinion, long weekend makes students lazy to wake up early and to go to school.

Week 2: "A salute to Filipino Language August, Buwan ng Wika"

"Ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit sa hayop at malansang isda; kaya ating pagyamaning kusa, gaya ng inang sa atin nagpala."

  This popular phrase from our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal gives primacy to the importance of language in a person's life. The language of our country,I can say that the soul of a nation who gives life to it.It acts as a bridge which joins the communities living in a country. With this, the unity and understanding of each person is especially flourishing. It also serves as the key of our identity, through it, met other people who we are.

In our rich words, we can easily see the different influences which reform and fit well with the personality of the Filipino. Therefore, the language well may also be the basis of our past and culture.

So last Friday, August 26, 2011, we had the celebration of "Buwan ng Wika". This is also the day of our tech run for Sayawikaads Competition. The ceremony started with the singing of our National Anthem followed by the Panatang Makabayan. After that,we, Lyceum Spartans Dance Troupe performed a dance number. The program also included different contest, like singing contest, folk dance, drawing contest and especially the Lakan and Lakambini contest. Each contestant wear different style of Filipiniana. Their outfits are very elegant and remarkable. I congratulate Mark Lester Torres from CITHM and Judifei Dimapilis from CAS for winning the Lakan and Lakambini 2011. I had so much fun in this event.

Week 1: Strike one! __My first half of being a MMA student__

Before, I am an engineering student but I decided to shift in Multimedia Arts because of many reasons. Actually, engineering course is just only my parents choice. Another reason is because I realize that engineering is not my passion. I want to explore. I want to learn new things. I want to have a knowledge especially in editing pictures and videos, photography and many more. All I can say is I love ART!

Everyday, I learned and discover something new. Every subjects are very interesting and the professors are good. They are very kind and patient to us. They will teach and teach in the best way they can. They are very nice.

In my first day of being a MMA student, I feel nervous because I will encounter new faces and new environment. But when I already encounter MMA I-I, it's not hard for me to adjust with them because they are very friendly and fun to be  with.

This month, we encounter the term they called "HELL WEEK" because of many quizzes,assignments,projects and etc. We have so many things to do and I don't know what I am going to start.This month is very stressful but have so much fun.

All about "NEW MEDIA"

All I can say about media?? Well, in my own opinion it is a new method of communicating in the digital world that allow groups of people to congregate online and share, sell and swap goods and information. It also allow us  to have a voice in our community and in the world in general.

New media provides advantages. It makes people works easier. We have the freedom to express our feelings through making our blogs in different sites like blogspot,tumblr,twitter and many more. We users like to feel in control and not be forced down a particular route. We like to browse. Through new media, we can easily access lots of information. We can also easily to communicate with others.

New media is a tool for social change. It has been used extensively by social movements to educate, organize, share cultural products of movements, communicate and more. But new media has also a disadvantages. It influences people. Sometimes many people become lazy, instead of searching in the book, they will just type their want to know in google then in a few minutes it appear to your computer compare to searching in book you can waste many time and also effort that's why many students choose to use internet. Right??

One of the major disadvantage of it is they meet people who they really don't know. They don't think what are the consequences that they will encounter. It is one thing that make them in danger.

Media has many benefits to us. It educate, entertain, communicate, organize and many more. But as an advice, be wise enough in using new media. 

Communication??Boom!!!!

When I watched this video, I feel amazed because everything in this video is all possible. Our communication today grows rapidly, right?? Technology has a great impact to our everyday lives. It has a big disadvantages to us. Maybe we will lack of social life, we may forget the reality in the world and we just want to share our thought or idea through social networks.

Before, we are living in a simple way, but imagine what is happening in the future. Advancement of things are good but not all will be good for us. I am worry about changing of the world that we may not be aware of.

Future predictions are often wrong in a lot of areas. Sometimes because things just don't catch on, and sometimes they just don't go far enough. It is interesting to see where we failed and were we passed all expectations.
